The HomePod Mini has been out for over two years and is Apple's cheaper sequel to the HomePod. For many people, this is their entrance into the Apple home ecosystem. It has great pros and cons. We will explore where what those strengths and weaknesses lie and the overarching question: Is the HomePod worth it.
There are great strengths to HomePod, but what makes the HomePod unique?
When you listen to music on the HomePod Mini, you will find out it is loaded with a great sound. The HomePod Mini feels like it projects much more music than it should be able to.
HomePod Mini connects with Apple Products well so it will have some tricks to go with it. An example is being able to hand off your music that you were just playing to the HomePod Mini.
Apple's HomePod falls short in several areas. What makes it stumble?
While music sounds great in higher pitches, it definitely lacks in bass. This is an important aspect that Apple needs to improve for it to be even better. One of the reasons for this though, is to buy the more expensive HomePod for better sound.
Siri could always be improved, but I want to focus on the home experience. One thing that was noticeable was Apple not having as customizable routines. It felt like there were very few conditions to go from and what you could do to get extra creative.
Is the HomePod enough to get people into the Apple ecosystem?
I personally believe that the Apple HomePod Mini's issues are mostly things that can be fixed. It's ahrdware is great, but still can be better. However, software is where it lacks most and that is completely fixable. Right now though, this product is for those deeply in the exosystem. This is a great option for those people because it will work great.
